Introducing the Coyle Custom Carve neck (patent pending) with Fusion Radius™ and Transitional Taper™.
For years guitar players have been looking for a "best of both worlds" neck that allowed for a vintage feel without the perils of fretting-out when bending. While addressing these issues in our shop and on our own guitars, we have developed a radical new neck carve that performs like a modern neck but feels vintage.
We started with our Fusion Radius ™ fingerboard. This isn't your father's compound radius. Our mixed radius neck transitions from a 7" radius on the low E and A strings to a 14" radius on the D thru high E strings. We then give it a deeply rolled edge for an amazing vintage feel.
But we didn't stop there. We also incorporate our Transitional Taper™ neck carve to facilitate a variety of hand positions without compromise. You can easily and comfortably switch from thumb-over-the-neck playing to shred-style thumb positioning seamlessly. Since the radius doesn't change on the low strings as you go up the neck, there's no pronounced edge or flat feel when playing blues licks up high.
We start with a soft-V profile with a peak that tapers to the bass side as you transition up the neck. Past the 7th fret, the V shifts from dead-center to under the D & A strings and flattens under the high strings.
The Transitional Taper™ provides a full, vintage feel to your hand as you grip the neck in the upper registers. Shift your thumb behind the neck for lightning fast arpeggios and it feels like the modern neck profiles made popular by Ibanez and other brands. By doing this, we overcome the weaknesses of other mixed radius necks.
